FAQs

What Is HypeIndex?

HypeIndex is a curated music discovery platform focused on surfacing notable new releases and breaking artists to a global network of industry professionals.

Originally launched as a grassroots industry newsletter, HypeIndex has grown into a multi-channel platform now read daily by thousands of music industry professionals across key global markets.

Today, HypeIndex combines editorial curation with targeted distribution across email, web, and streaming, highlighting new releases to A&Rs, record labels, publishers, PRs, DSP teams, live agents, and tastemakers.

Our core product is a daily editorial briefing, supported by website features and curated playlists, designed to position new music at the point where it matters most.

Why HypeIndex Exists

The modern music landscape has created a discovery problem.

More artists than ever are releasing music independently. At the same time, the volume of new releases has made it increasingly difficult for high-quality records to reach the right audience.

Streaming platforms and algorithms tend to reward momentum, not necessarily new or emerging talent at the earliest stage.

HypeIndex was built to address this gap.

Our focus is simple:

identify strong records early and place them in front of the people who can act on them.

What HypeIndex Does

HypeIndex operates as an editorial layer within the music discovery ecosystem.

Selected releases are distributed across our core channels:

Daily Industry Email Briefing

Delivered to a curated network of 4,000+ music industry professionals including A&Rs, labels, PRs, publishers and agents.

HypeIndex Website

Featured releases are published and positioned as part of our ongoing editorial coverage.

Curated Spotify Playlists

Where relevant, tracks are supported across our genre-focused playlists, extending listener reach.

Our distribution is built around a defined, industry-facing audience rather than open consumer reach, allowing us to position records in front of relevant decision-makers rather than passive listeners.

Who We Reach

HypeIndex is read by a global network of music industry professionals, including:

  • A&R representatives

  • Record labels (independent and major)

  • PR and marketing teams

  • Press and media

  • Playlist curators

  • Music publishers

  • Sync agents and supervisors

  • Live agents and promoters

Our Editorial Policy

All submissions to HypeIndex are reviewed editorially.

We focus on records that demonstrate a clear level of quality, identity, and relevance. This typically includes strong production and songwriting, a defined artistic direction, and early signs of traction or momentum within a specific audience.

Our aim is not to cover everything, but to identify releases that we believe can be effectively positioned within our network and resonate with an industry-facing audience.

Not every submission is accepted.

We maintain a selective approach in order to preserve the quality and credibility of the platform, both for the artists we feature and the professionals who rely on our briefing.

In some cases, selected features are subject to a distribution contribution. This covers the cost of editorial placement and distribution across our channels, including the website, daily briefing, and playlist support where relevant.

This model allows us to operate independently while continuing to invest in distribution and maintain a focused, curated platform.

HypeIndex is not a playlisting service, and we do not sell streams or guaranteed placements.

We operate as a curated editorial platform, focused on:

  • selecting records we believe in

  • positioning them within an industry-facing context

  • distributing them across our network

Artists and teams use HypeIndex as part of their release strategy, particularly when looking to reach industry professionals during key moments of traction.

The platform is best understood as a curated media and distribution layer, rather than a promotional service.
